In countries like Sweden and Denmark, a horizontal board is placed at the bottom of the vertical facade boards of wooden cabins. The sole purpose of this sacrificial board is to protect the wooden facade and its stone foundation. The owners embrace the limited lifespan of the offerbräda, but it is easily replaced and has an important task in guiding rain away from the foundation.
